The Smart Cyprus project, presented at a conference in collaboration with Cyta, aims to create a unified platform to support smart solutions in cities and communities. The Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy described the project as a national investment for a digital and green Cyprus.

The platform will support common infrastructure and applications for all of Cyprus, avoiding fragmentation and ensuring equal access to innovation. The initial phase includes smart lighting, smart parking, and smart waste management, as well as a unified mobile application for communication with local authorities.

The goal is the gradual integration of existing solutions and the expansion of the platform into areas such as public safety, the environment, and health. The design is based on the principles of interoperability and scalability, with a transparent costing model. The administrator will be the contractor in collaboration with the Deputy Ministry.

Cyta and EAC are participating in the implementation. At the same time, the design for digital national infrastructures such as IDme.cy, e-invoicing, and the digital citizen wallet is being strengthened.

The Deputy Minister called on all stakeholders to utilize Smart Cyprus as a national infrastructure to create the Smart Cyprus of tomorrow.
