Omodos Fire Started from Garbage

Yesterday's fire in Omodos started from a small amount of garbage near the road, according to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis. Firefighting forces remain on standby in the area.
The fire burned a total area of approximately one hectare of dry grass, wild vegetation, and debris, while the yards of three houses were slightly affected. Mr. Kettis made a warm appeal to the public to be very careful due to the increased risk of fires, as the Fire Service is on heightened alert due to the extreme temperature.
Mr. Kettis advised the public to inform the authorities promptly in case of a fire, emphasizing that the Fire Service's resources are on heightened alert with patrols and observatories.
