Limassol Fire: Most Houses Lack Building Permits

Of the 710 buildings affected by the recent fire in mountainous Limassol, only 293 have building permits, according to an audit by the Limassol District Self-Government Organisation (EOA).

Specifically:

• 104 buildings have no permit at all.
• There is insufficient data for 221 buildings.
• 49 only have planning permission.

The Mayor of Kourion, Mr. Pantelis Georgiou, had estimated that 20-30% of the houses destroyed were unpermitted. Current data indicates that this percentage may be higher.
