Warning: Poisonous Snakes Alert in Cyprus

The Civil Defence is urging citizens to be especially careful when in nature, particularly in areas of dense vegetation, due to the presence of poisonous snakes in Cyprus.

The warning follows the rescue of a citizen who was bitten by a snake. The Civil Defence advises citizens to be vigilant when engaging in outdoor activities. There are three types of poisonous snakes in Cyprus, one of which is extremely dangerous.

The rescued citizen was hospitalized for eight days in the ICU of Lemesos hospital due to a snake bite and heatstroke and has now been discharged.
