Power Restoration to Fire-Affected Communities Expected by Saturday
Full power restoration to the center of the communities affected by the recent fires is expected by Saturday, according to statements made to ΚΥΠΕ by ΑΗΚ (Electricity Authority of Cyprus) spokesperson, Christina Papadopoulou.
"The center, meaning the core of all communities, has been electrified to a large extent, either directly to the ΑΗΚ network or with the help of ΑΗΚ generators," said Ms. Papadopoulou. The communities of Agios Therapon, Monagri, and Lofou are temporarily powered by generators due to access difficulties.
ΑΗΚ has so far replaced 520 of the 700 burnt poles and 17 transformers out of the 50 burnt ones, and has constructed 17.5 km of medium voltage overhead network.
In case of damage to the electrical installation, customers must submit an application for a small-scale work inspection to ΑΗΚ, in cooperation with an electrician. ΑΗΚ provides free inspection and reconnection.
