PASYKI: Instability in the Management of Public Hospitals

PASYKI (Pancyprian Union of Government Doctors) denounces a "fixed pattern of destabilization" in the management of public hospitals, manifested by resignations, non-renewal of terms, and prolonged vacancies in key positions.
In a statement, PASYKI reports that the position of Operations Manager has remained vacant for more than three months, while the recent resignation of the Executive General Manager of Nicosia is part of a "continuous chain of administrative disintegration." The organization argues that administrative autonomy, without adequate oversight and accountability safeguards, has led to a disclaimer of responsibilities.
PASYKI questions who is in charge of the actual management of the hospitals and who takes responsibility for the inability to staff and support a stable administrative pyramid. It points out that administrative destabilization undermines the operation of the system and jeopardizes the quality of healthcare provided.
The organization calls on the State to intervene immediately to ensure the administrative capacity of hospitals, warning that the autonomy reform risks leading to the disintegration of public hospitals.
