Paphos: Municipalities and Organizations Request Acceleration of Breakwater Project

Municipalities and organizations in Paphos, including the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Paphos Hoteliers Association, and the Municipalities of Paphos and Geroskipou, are requesting the acceleration of the breakwater construction project to protect the coastal front of the area. A joint letter to the President of the Republic was decided upon at a recent meeting.
The President of the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Giorgos Mais, stated that the project is mature and the breakwaters will extend from the Phaethon Hotel to the Annabelle Hotel. The Municipalities of Paphos and Geroskipou have consulted with the Department of Public Works, with the competent Minister and the Directorate of Public Works expressing their agreement for the project to be tendered by them.
The President of PASYXE Paphos, Evripidis Loizidis, noted that the studies have been completed and the construction plans are ready. The Mayor of Geroskipou, Nikos Palios, stated that the meeting confirmed the advanced stage of maturity of the project and decided to send a letter to the President of the Republic requesting the project to be announced in October 2026.
The letter will emphasize the high priority and supra-local importance of the project, as well as the need for better organization and safety of the beaches of Paphos.
