Paphos: Call for Acceleration of Breakwater Projects

Municipalities and organizations in Paphos are calling for the acceleration of the breakwater project to protect the coastal front of Paphos and Geroskipou. The Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Paphos Hoteliers Association, and the Municipalities of Paphos and Geroskipou point out that the project has matured and could be announced in October 2026.
At a recent meeting, the involved authorities decided to send a joint letter to the President of the Republic. The President of the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Giorgos Mais, stated that the breakwaters would extend from the Phaethon Hotel to the Anabelle Hotel, and that all necessary consultations have been carried out.
The Municipalities of Paphos and Geroskipou have consulted with the Department of Public Works, with the relevant Minister and the Directorate expressing their agreement for the project to be tendered. Procedural issues remain, such as securing funding.
The President of PASYXE Paphos, Evripidis Loizidis, stated that the studies and construction plans for the breakwater project are ready. The Mayor of Geroskipou, Nikos Palios, stated that the project is at an advanced stage of maturity and that a letter will be sent to the President of the Republic requesting the announcement of the project in October 2026.
