UNFICYP: Incident in Avlona buffer zone under control

UNFICYP announced that an incident involving a violation of the buffer zone in the Avlona area has been brought under control. According to UNFICYP spokesperson, Alim Siddique, the issue concerning unauthorized agricultural activities was resolved peacefully.

Mr. Siddique stated that members of the peacekeeping force immediately went to the area and cooperated with both sides to de-escalate the situation and maintain calm. UNFICYP continues to monitor the area closely.

Yesterday, the Community Leader of Avlona, Menelaos Savva, reported a violation of the buffer zone near the village by Turkish farmers.
