New Restrictions for T/C Crossing to Free Areas

According to Turkish Cypriot media, as of August 25th, crossing to the free areas is only permitted to Turkish Cypriots who possess an ID card of the Republic of Cyprus or another member state of the European Union.

Those who only have an "identity card" issued by the pseudo-state cannot cross. Turkish Cypriots with a birth certificate must present the certificate and a photocopy of the ID card of their father or mother, if they are citizens of the Republic of Cyprus.

The trade union "union of workers of southern cyprus" has started discussions on the matter.
