New Palliative Care Centers Planned for Limassol and Paphos

The Cyprus Anticancer Society is planning to create new palliative care centers in Limassol and Paphos, modeled after the "Arodafnousa" center in Nicosia. The aim is to reduce the suffering of cancer patients and their families.
The Executive Director of the Society, Maria Ioannidou, stated that the new center in Limassol will be located west of the city, near the highway to Paphos, to also serve patients in the Paphos district.
According to Ms. Ioannidou, Limassol needs 13-17 palliative care beds and Paphos 5-7. The new hospice will provide services from an interdisciplinary team and will be integrated into the General Healthcare System (GESY). Operating costs are estimated at €3.5 million per year.
The Society is in discussions for a long-term lease of a state plot in the Sotira community of Limassol and in advanced talks with a potential donor for funding.
