Naxos: Wire Fence Removal from Portara

The Single-Member Court of First Instance of Naxos accepted the application for interim measures by the Municipality of Naxos and Small Cyclades, ordering the removal of the wire fence from the archaeological site of Portara by September 27, 2025.

The fence had been placed by the Cyclades Antiquities Authority, causing reactions from the municipal authority and residents. Mayor Dimitris Lianos expressed his satisfaction with the decision, emphasizing that the Ministry of Culture should also take other steps, such as establishing a ticket for the self-financing of the site.

The court's decision was based on the on-site inspection carried out in the Palatia area and the discussion in the courtroom.
