5 Richter Aftershock in Lasithi, Crete

A 5 Richter scale aftershock occurred off the coast of Lasithi, Crete, today, according to the Geodynamic Institute. The epicenter was located 18 kilometers south of Goudouras, with a focal depth of 7.7 kilometers.
Earlier the same day, a 5.7 Richter scale earthquake was recorded in the same area. The Deputy Regional Governor of Lasithi, Giannis Androulakis, reported that the earthquake was particularly felt throughout southwestern Crete, from Sitia to Heraklion.
The president of OASP, Efthymios Lekkas, stated that the earthquake was felt in Crete, Kasos, and Karpathos. ERTnews correspondent, Giorgos Lambrakis, reported that there were no reports of damage, while aftershocks with a magnitude of 3.5 to 3.8 Richter were recorded.
The Mayor of Sitia, Giorgos Zervakis, emphasized that the earthquake caused unrest among the residents. The mayors of Sitia and Ierapetra advise citizens to remain calm and are monitoring the phenomenon. So far, there have been no reports of damage.
