Missolonghi: International Network of Philhellenism Cities Founded

The International Network of Philhellenism Cities and Organizations was founded in Missolonghi on February 14, 2026. Mayors and representatives of municipalities from all over Greece signed cooperation and twinning protocols.
During the symposium, the first phase of twinning was completed with the Municipalities of Athens, Argostoli, Argos-Mycenae, Voio, Vyronas, Elassona, Ithaca, Karaiskakis, Central Corfu and Diapontian Islands, Nafplio, Pylos-Nestoros, Serres and Spetses. The Municipalities of Grevena, Kyrenia, Zalongos, Preveza, Corinth, Thermos, Tripoli, Chios, Kasos and the Community of Koili (Paphos) were also represented.
The network will be based in Missolonghi and will meet every two years. The aim is to create a permanent framework for cooperation to promote the values of freedom, democracy and human dignity. The establishment of the Forum of Universality is also planned.
The Mayor of the Holy City of Missolonghi, Mr. Spyridon Diamantopoulos, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Aetolia and Acarnania, Mr. Damaskinos, Mr. Velentzas, Mr. Tsichritzis, Ms. Staraka, Mr. Paisios, Mr. Bletsas and Mr. Dautidis attended the event.
