Nicosia: School Bus Stranded in Flood – Road Closures

Heavy rainfall in Nicosia caused problems, with the Fire Service receiving dozens of calls. According to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, calls in the Nicosia District exceeded 60 and mainly concerned clearing storm water drains on roads in Strovolos, Engomi, Lakatamia and old Nicosia.

In Lakatamia, a school bus was stranded on a flooded road on Agiou Meletiou Street. Firefighters transported the students to safety.

Police announced that Alexandroupoleos and Erythrou Stavrou streets are closed due to bridge overflows. Drivers are urged to avoid these areas and use alternative routes.
