Limassol: Metropolitan Athanasios and Childhood Stones at the Metropolis

Metropolitan Athanasios of Limassol is receiving wishes from officials, clergy, and the public today, due to his name day. At the luncheon he hosted, he referred to an incident where as a child he threw stones at the Metropolis.

A Polyhierarchical Concelebration was held in the morning, presided over by Metropolitan Athanasios of Limassol. Among those present were Metropolitan Georgios of Kitros, Katerini and Platamonos, Bishop Epiphanios of Ledra, Bishop Nikolaos of Amathus, and Bishop Porphyrios of Neapolis.

The Speaker of the House, Annita Demetriou, visited the Metropolitan of Limassol and wished him well.

The luncheon hosted by the Metropolis of Limassol was attended by the President of EOA Limassol, Giannis Tsouloftas, and the Mayor of Limassol, Giannis Armeftis.

Metropolitan Athanasios referred to his first confession and the period of the ecclesiastical coup, when he threw stones at the Metropolis. "God punished me because from the day I came here, I keep building and building and never finish," he characteristically said.

Instead of gifts, the Metropolitan of Limassol requests that those who wish to contribute to the meal for the needy of the Holy Metropolis of Limassol.
