Limassol: Parents on Student Walkout Over Air Conditioning

The President of the Federation of Parents' Associations of Public Secondary Schools of Limassol Province, Sotiris Christofi, told CYNEWS that he understands the students' reactions regarding the lack of air conditioning in schools but disagrees with the abstention from classes.
Mr. Christofi stated that "the students are absolutely right" regarding the issue of air conditioning, while expressing concern about the delays and problems in the electrical installations, which hinder their installation. At the same time, he described as wrong the Ministry's decision to leave the responsibility for the issue of short pants to the school administrations.
Mr. Christofi called on the Ministry of Education to speed up the procedures for the installation of air conditioners and the upgrading of electrical installations in Limassol schools. The statement was made in the wake of today's student walkout, following a decision by PSEM.
