Limassol is facing a severe shortage of lifeguards, according to statements made to CYBC by the Deputy District Officer of Limassol, Hlektra Panagiotou.

Only 43 of the 79 approved lifeguard positions for the Limassol District have been filled. Furthermore, only 16 of the 26 lifeguard towers are operational.

A particular problem is noted at Governor's Beach, where no lifeguard tower is in operation.
