Limassol: 19-Year-Old in Distress at Sea β "We Thought He Was Dead"

Disturbance arose on the Limassol coastal front when a 19-year-old, of Arab origin and a permanent resident of Cyprus, was shouting for help while in the sea. Approximately 100 meters from the shore, the young man was rescued by citizens who rushed to help him.
A woman, a witness to the incident, described to RoadReportCy how she heard the voices and initially thought someone was playing. When she realized that the 19-year-old was in the sea and asking for help, she understood the seriousness of the situation. "The child went under many times," she said, indicating that the young man did not know how to swim.
The woman tried to communicate with him in Arabic, but without success. The citizens who pulled him out of the water thought he was dead because he had swallowed a lot of water. Fortunately, the 19-year-old opened his eyes and was transferred to Limassol General Hospital as a precaution.
