Larnaca: Vessel Sinks in Marina, Pollution Prevented

On 22.6.2025, a fire broke out on a sailing vessel anchored in Larnaca Marina, resulting in its sinking. The Cyprus Port Authority immediately mobilized the tugboat VTS AYIA MARINA and the anti-pollution vessel AELLA.

Due to the limited draft, the tugboat remained on standby. After the sinking, AELLA installed anti-pollution barriers to prevent marine pollution.

The barriers were placed after the installation of buoys. Actions were taken to address the pollution on the sea surface, preventing the spread of pollutants.
