Larnaca: €18.3 Million Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) Works Begin

Works for Larnaca's Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), totaling €18.3 million, are set to begin, aiming to change traffic flow in the city. The Ministry of Transport signed contracts with Araco Construction Cy Ltd.
The works, expected to start next month, include the construction of bus lanes (10 km), bicycle lanes (22 km), sidewalks (13 km), pedestrian and cyclist crossings, and ramps for people with disabilities. New traffic lights will be installed, and existing ones will be upgraded.
A bicycle network will be added to Akropoleos, Spyrou Kyprianou, Giannou Kranidioti, Nikou and Despoinas Patichi, Artemidos, Faneromenis, and Lemesou Avenues. Bus lanes will be created on Eleftherias Street and Nikou and Despoinas Patichi, Artemidos, and Makariou Avenues.
The Mayor of Larnaca, Andreas Vyras, expressed his satisfaction with the start of the works.
The project is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan and is expected to be completed in January 2027.
