Government Support to 444 Families in Fire-Affected Areas

The Government has provided support and guidance to 444 families in the fire-affected areas, according to statements by the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Marilena Evaggelou. Specifically, 255 families received support and guidance, while 189 families received financial assistance to cover emergency needs.
Deputy Minister Evaggelou emphasized the importance of cooperation with local authorities and the local community to effectively address the needs of those affected. She also referred to the special program that is underway in the affected areas, with the participation of social service workers and neighborhood workers.
Ms. Evaggelou visited villages in the affected areas and discussed future care services and the community development plan with community leaders. She also mentioned the institution of the neighborhood social worker, which aims to decentralize social services and more effectively address social issues.
The meeting was attended by, among others, the Commissioner for the Development of Mountainous Areas, Charalambos Christofinas, the President of the Union of Communities of Lemesos, Lefteris Perikli, and the President of the Union of Communities of Cyprus, Andreas Kitromilidis.
