Government Awaits Information on Akamas Party

The Government is awaiting information from the relevant departments regarding the party held in a Natura area in Akamas. Following a complaint on August 22, the Audit Office requested information from the Departments of Environment and Fisheries on the same day.

On August 25, an urgent letter was sent to the Ministers of Agriculture and Interior, requesting information on whether approval was secured from the Council of Ministers, whether a permit was granted by the environmental authority, and on measures to mitigate the environmental impact.

Audit Office spokesperson Marios Petridis emphasized that the attempt to link the party with the carob festival is incorrect. He also expressed concern that the competent authorities, while aware of the event, did not take the necessary measures.

Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis stated that he is unaware of any permit from the Council of Ministers for the event and stressed the need to implement the legislation.
