Cyprus: January Rainfall Exceeded Normal Levels, Reached 117%

According to the Department of Meteorology, the average rainfall in the free areas of Cyprus in January exceeded the normal values for the month, reaching 117% by January 29. The average total rainfall from the 1st of the year amounted to 119.8 millimeters.
The largest excess was recorded in Nicosia (Athalassa), with 85.1 millimeters (177% coverage). High coverage rates were also recorded in Pano Panagia and Frenaros (138%), in Xylotymbou (133%), and at Larnaca Airport (132%).
The lowest rates were recorded in Limassol (New Port) at 76% and in Prodromos (89%), which did not cover 100% of the average rainfall for the month.
In absolute terms, the most rainfall was recorded in Platania (225 millimeters) and in Pano Panagia (211.6 millimeters), while the least was in Limassol (New Port) with 72.6 millimeters and in Xylotymbou with 79.1 millimeters.
Compared to the normal rainfall from the beginning of the period (10/1), the average rainfall to date is at 95%.
