Weather Alert: Nicosia to be Affected by Storms

According to the Department of Meteorology, the wider Nicosia area is expected to be affected today by the wave of bad weather for which a yellow warning has been issued. However, the phenomena will not be as intense as yesterday.

Meteorological Officer Panagiotis Lingis stated that the yellow warning starts at 10:00 in the morning from the west, but Nicosia is expected to be affected between 13:00 and 16:00. Hail is also possible during the storm.

He also referred to the morning rainfall in the Limassol area and expressed the hope that the rains will increase the flows to the dams. He noted that in the mountainous areas, the intensity of the rain was from 40 to 60 millimeters in the last 24 hours.

For tomorrow, Mr. Lingis said that there will be similar but more weakened weather phenomena, mainly north of Troodos, between Astromeritis, Nicosia and occupied Famagusta, from noon to afternoon. The situation will be similar on Monday.
