Yellow Alert for Rain and Storms in Cyprus

The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow alert for rain, thunderstorms, and possible hail in Cyprus. The alert is in effect from 6:00 AM on Friday to 6:00 AM on Saturday.

Rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected to affect the island intermittently. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of hail and winds may increase up to 7 Beaufort, mainly on the coasts.

Total rainfall, mainly in the western half of the island, may exceed 55 millimeters in 24 hours, with rainfall intensity reaching 35 millimeters per hour. Snow or sleet is possible on the highest peaks of Troodos.

Isolated showers or thunderstorms are expected on Saturday, but will soon weaken. On Sunday and Monday, the weather will be mainly clear.
