Synodal Court Removes Two Clergymen from Tamasos Metropolis

The Six-Member Synodal Court has decided to defrock Archimandrite Varnavas Chrysanthou and Deacon Raphael Misiaoulis, clergymen of the Holy Metropolis of Tamasos. The decision entails their return to the ranks of monks.

The decision was reached by majority vote after reviewing the findings of the investigative committee, the evidentiary material, the indictments of the ecclesiastical prosecutor, the defense witnesses, and the defendants' apologies.

The President of the Six-Member Synodal Court was the Metropolitan of Kition Nektarios, with members including the Metropolitans of Lemesos Athanasios, Morphou Neophytos, Constantia and Ammochostos Vasileios, Trimithountos Barnabas, and the Bishop of Arsinois Pancratius.
