Kalavryta: Cog Railway Train Stalled – 38 Passengers Evacuated

A cog railway train was immobilized in Kalavryta, prompting a major operation to evacuate 38 passengers. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when the 15:05 train from Diakopto suffered a breakdown in a difficult-to-access location, 6.200 km near Niamata.
Passengers notified 112, and an evacuation operation was immediately launched, concluding after approximately 4 hours. According to a statement by Hellenic Train, the passengers were transferred by a backup train back to Diakopto, where a bus was waiting to transport them to Kalavryta.
Hellenic Train reported that train 1336 was immobilized due to a technical issue near the Triklia area. The causes of the incident are under investigation.
