Historic Procession at Kykkos Monastery for Rain

An all-night vigil was held at the Holy Royal and Stavropegic Monastery of Panagia of Kykkos, led by Metropolitan Nikiforos of Kykkos, to address the prolonged drought in Cyprus.
The procession of the icon of Panagia Eleousa took place after 35 years, marking the fourth time in the Monastery's history. Faithful from all over Cyprus gathered to pray.
In statements to OMEGA's camera, the faithful expressed their hope for rain and their faith in the Virgin Mary. They also prayed for the freedom of Cyprus.
After the divine liturgy, the icon of the Virgin Mary was transferred to Throni, where a special prayer was held. A similar procession took place in December 1990, on the initiative of the then Abbot of Kykkos Monastery, Mr. Nikiforos.
