Gavdos Isolated for 16 Days Due to Bad Weather

Gavdos has been isolated for the 16th consecutive day due to severe weather conditions. Gale-force winds, heavy rainfall, and strong waves have made ferry connections with Crete impossible.

The prolonged isolation has caused concern among residents about potential shortages of food, fuel, and essential supplies. Difficulties also exist in accessing medical services.

Local authorities are in contact with the Region and relevant ministries to send supplies as soon as weather conditions allow. Alternative scenarios for supporting the island are also being considered.
