Fire in Chios: Villages and Psara Without Electricity

Chios and Psara are facing severe power supply problems due to the ongoing fire. Villages in Chios and the island of Psara have been left without electricity, with the damage estimated to take days to repair.
Generators are being transported to Psara to address the blackout, which will be put into operation until power is restored.
In Chios, the villages of Kipouries, Volissos, Parparia, Potamia and others in the Amani area have been left without electricity. The fire has destroyed at least 150 electricity transmission poles.
According to DEDDIE, the priority is to restore power to Volissos, a process estimated to take 3-4 days. Full restoration of power to all affected areas is estimated to take 7-10 days, or even longer.
Reinforcement crews from Northern Greece, consisting of 40 DEDDIE technicians, are going to the island to speed up the work.
