Cyprus Heatwave: Temperatures Reach 43°C, Orange Alert Issued

A heatwave is affecting Cyprus, with temperatures reaching 43 degrees Celsius inland. The Director of the Department of Meteorology, Filippos Tymvios, speaking to Cyprus Times, stated that temperatures are significantly higher than normal for this time of year.

According to Mr. Tymvios, the highest temperature was recorded in Alonoudi at 41 degrees Celsius. Coastal areas reached 33 degrees Celsius.

Today, Monday, an Orange Alert is in effect from 11:00 to 17:00, with temperatures reaching 43 degrees inland and 34 degrees in the mountains.

Extremely high temperatures are expected tomorrow, Tuesday, reaching 43-44 degrees Celsius. Coastal temperatures will remain around 37 degrees.

A slight drop in temperature is expected from Friday.
