Evros Floods: Lavara Under Water – Road Signs Submerged, Alert

The Evros region is in a state of emergency due to extensive flooding. In Lavara, Evros, water levels have risen dangerously, threatening homes and prompting the activation of 112 to alert residents.
More than 100,000 acres have been flooded, and the northern junction of the area has been closed as a precaution. Police, fire services, and the municipality of Soufli are mobilized, reinforcing embankments. Civil Protection teams are informing citizens, with special care for the elderly and people with health problems.
Pumps are operating continuously in Lavara, but the pressure remains high. In Soufli, water pumping has been ongoing for twenty days, while the pressure is shifting further south, testing the embankments from Amorio to Tychero in Evros.
