Rainy Spell: Extended Period of Rainfall Expected in Cyprus

From January 26th to February 20th, Cyprus is expected to experience increased rainfall compared to the normal levels for this time of year, according to the Meteorological Department and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
Despite the improvement in soil moisture, water reserves in dams remain low after years of drought. The predicted rainfall is not sufficient to reverse the situation.
Climate forecasts indicate that the eastern Mediterranean will continue to receive reduced amounts of rainfall, making the rational use of water a necessity.
It is noted that the forecasts should be considered advisory and do not replace daily weather forecasts.
Weekly rainfall in the eastern Mediterranean is expected to range between 25 and 100 mm. For Cyprus, these conditions may lead to increased surface runoff and improved hydrological conditions.
For the week of January 16-22, Cyprus has received approximately 20 millimeters of rain in addition to what was expected.
