Chios Airport Runway Works: Helicopter Flights from March 12, 2026

The Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) has announced changes to the operation of Chios State Airport "Omiros" due to runway works. From March 12, 2026, flights will be served by helicopter aircraft and a limited number of passenger seats.
The expansion works, supported by HELLENiQ ENERGY, aim to upgrade the runway infrastructure. The first phase of the works will last until the first quarter of 2027.
According to the HCAA, the project includes the expansion of the runway from 1,511 meters to 1,799 meters. The goal is to serve larger aircraft and enhance safety.
A relevant NOTAM has been issued for the first phase, and new announcements will follow for the next phases.
