Cyprus Wildfire Damage Repair: Race Against Time

Efforts continue to repair the damage caused by the deadly wildfire. Officials from the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare are assisting fire victims who have not yet contacted the authorities.
Relevant services and the Union of Communities are urging those affected to immediately report their needs. By noon, damages had been recorded in 288 houses, 105 properties, and 129 vehicles.
Gradual Restoration of Water and Electricity Supply
The process of restoring the water supply is progressing well, while electricity will take longer. The Electricity Authority is fully mobilized, with the supply restored to most of the affected communities.
In Agios Georgios Sylikou, Alassa, Kissousa, Mallia, Omodos, Potamiou, Ypsonas, and Sotira, electricity has been fully restored. Supply is now almost complete in Monagri, Koilani, Vouni, and Kyvides.
In Souni-Zanatjia, electricity is at 80%, while the communities of Agios Therapon, Vasa Koilaniou, Lofou, and Arsos receive 70%, and Agios Ambrosios 66%. The goal is to restore supply to every home safely as soon as possible, according to AEK spokesperson Christina Papadopoulou.
