Weather Alert: Areas Expected to Be Affected

A weak high pressure system prevails over the Cyprus region, but a low pressure system from the south is expected to affect the island on Saturday, according to the Department of Meteorology.

On Thursday, the weather will initially be mainly clear, with increased cloud cover in the mountains and southwest in the afternoon. Winds will be northeasterly to easterly, light to moderate, with locally strong gusts. The temperature will reach 20 degrees Celsius inland, 22 degrees Celsius on the coast, and 10 degrees Celsius in the mountains.

On Friday, there will be increased high cloud cover and a chance of light rain, especially in the mountains and south of Troodos.

On Saturday, the weather will be cloudy with local rain and isolated thunderstorms. On Sunday, increased cloud cover is expected, with isolated rain or thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains and the eastern half of the island.

The temperature is expected to drop on Saturday and rise slightly on Sunday.
