Cyprus Forestry College Reopens with 20 Trainees

The Cyprus Forestry College has reopened in the Prodromos community with 20 trainees, after nearly ten years of suspension. The Minister of Agriculture, Maria Panagiotou, welcomed the reopening, emphasizing that it is a strategic choice by the State to staff the Department of Forests.
The upgraded curriculum is certified and harmonized with European developments. Improvements have been made to the legislative framework and reinforcement of the staffing and equipment of the Department of Forests.
The President's Advisor, Giorgos Boustros, stressed the importance of investing in education to address natural disasters. The Director of the Department of Forests, Savvas Iezekiil, called the day historic for forestry in Cyprus.
The new three-year program "Higher Diploma in Forestry" was presented by the Director of the College, Andreas Mavrogiankoumos, and includes theoretical courses, practical training and modern technologies. Graduates will be able to work in the Department of Forests, in public services and in the private sector.
