EOA: Violations in Building Demolition on Makariou – Termination Order Issued

The EOA Nicosia found serious violations in the demolition permit of a building on Makariou Avenue, following an incident involving the collapse of a building section and scaffolding. According to a statement, the strict conditions set were not met.

Specifically, the EOA had required the submission of a detailed work plan, photographic documentation of the pavement, and the deposit of a bank guarantee of €40,000. Furthermore, the EOA informed the contractor to immediately terminate the work and sent a notification to suspend demolition until full compliance with the terms.

The EOA will require ETEK to examine the responsibilities of the supervising engineer. The EOA emphasizes that there will be zero tolerance for violations and strict measures will be imposed.
