13-year-old Syrian Boy Found in Occupied Territories After Disappearance

The 13-year-old Syrian boy, Majed Alashtar, who had disappeared from Nicosia on August 6th, has been found in the occupied territories. According to the Police, the 13-year-old is in good health and was located by the Bi-communal Contact Office.

The minor reportedly attempted to reunite with his mother in Turkey. The organization Hope For Children denies reports of bullying against Majed Alashtar at the shelter where he was staying. They state that the 13-year-old was cooperative and no incidents of bullying had been reported.

The Social Welfare Services referred Majed to the shelter on June 23rd. When he was late returning from a store near the shelter, the staff was informed that he intended to return to his mother. An update is expected from the occupying authorities regarding his return to the Authorities of the Republic.
