Concerns over Vandalism on School Buses Disrupting Services

Concerns are rising due to the disruption of school bus routes caused by vandalism, leading to inconvenience for students. The Minister of Education, Athena Michaelidou, stated that perpetrators will be identified and the cost of damages will be borne by parents.
The President of the Federation of Parents of Secondary Education, Loizos Constantinou, mentioned that routes, such as from Athienou to Dasoupoli and the Technical School of Nicosia, have been suspended in recent days due to vandalism.
The Commercial Director of CPT, Alexandros Kamberos, explained that the suspension of routes is mainly due to the need to ensure the safety of passengers, as there have been acts of vandalism and attacks against drivers.
The Development and Communication Director of EMEL, Petros Theocharides, emphasized the lack of regulations regarding the use of cameras on buses and the procedures to be followed in case of vandalism.
The Personnel Director of OSEA, Panikos Amyragias, stated that in the free Famagusta province, the situation is better, with isolated incidents such as smoking and damage to seats.
Finally, the Director of OSYPA, Andreas Rodosthenous, stated that in the Paphos province, routes have not been suspended, but there are problems with verbal attacks against drivers.
