One-Time Payment Begins for Fire Victims β ETEK in Limassol

The government has begun distributing one-time payments to fire victims as an initial support measure. This will be followed by payments for home repairs, based on assessments by ETEK. Assessments are expected to begin soon, and rental allowances will be paid out in September to those not residing in trade union housing.
The Council of Ministers approved a package of measures following announcements by the President of the Republic. These measures include a one-time payment to those affected, to cover basic needs.
For total destruction, the one-time payment is β¬10,000 per family plus β¬2,000 per dependent child. For partial destruction, the payment is β¬5,000 per family plus β¬1,000 per child. Owners or renters of permanent residences are eligible.
Payments began last Thursday and continued on Friday. This measure applies only to those whose permanent residences were destroyed.
ETEK visits are expected to begin within days to record damages and estimate repair costs. Current market prices will be used, and insurance deductibles will be paid immediately for insured homes.
A special procedure will be followed for unauthorized buildings to support rural areas and uphold legality. Owners must apply for permits by 31.12.2025.
Rental allowances will be paid from September to those unable to live in their homes. The allowance will be β¬800 per family and β¬200 per dependent child, quarterly.
