The Veterinary Services have requested the immediate dispatch of a team of experts from the DG Health of the European Commission to review the situation in Cyprus.

Oroklini and Livadia are also on alert, while the situation in Athienou is being monitored. Aradippou is being shielded with sprays and disinfectants.

The Veterinary Services remind livestock farmers of the biosecurity measures they must adhere to, including effective fencing, disinfection of vehicles and personnel, and control of the origin of feed.

In consultation with the Department of Forests, the Department of Agriculture and the Game Service, spraying will be carried out in the livestock areas of the Larnaca district and gradually in other areas.

From today, press officers will be able to receive daily updates at 7 p.m. from the Director of the Veterinary Services at the central offices in Nicosia.
