The 32-year-old Greek Cypriot man arrested by the SBA Police has been released. According to reports, after further interrogations, no evidence was found to warrant his continued detention. However, he will be summoned again in two weeks for further questioning.

The man was arrested after crossing into the occupied territories and, as he testified, being surrounded by the occupation army while trying to escape into the SBA Dhekelia area.

The possibility of drug trafficking had not been ruled out at the time of his arrest, but there is no evidence to suggest this. The investigation is ongoing.

Background: The 32-year-old crossed into the occupied territories with his car in the Strovilia area. He noticed lights from a Turkish outpost and crossed into the free areas of the British Bases of Dhekelia, leaving his vehicle behind.

In his statement, he said he was driving on the Larnaca-Famagusta road, entered a dirt road and saw lights, realizing he had entered the occupied territories. Fearing, he ran in the opposite direction.

The SBA Police are investigating the case, and the Republic's authorities have been informed to take the necessary actions through the United Nations for the return of the vehicle.
