The Audit Office has requested explanations from the Departments of Environment and Fisheries regarding a party held in a Natura area in Akamas, following a complaint received on August 22.

On August 25, an urgent letter was sent to the Ministers of Agriculture and Interior, requesting information on whether approval was secured from the Council of Ministers and whether permission was granted by the environmental authority.

Audit Office spokesperson Marios Petridis stated that there is a mistaken attempt to link the party with the carob festival, as the platform was set up in a different location without the necessary permits. He also expressed concern that the competent authorities were aware of the event but did not take the necessary measures.

Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letybiotis stated that he is not aware of any permission being granted by the Council of Ministers and that the Government is awaiting information from the relevant departments.
