Temperatures are expected to reach 45 degrees Celsius in inland Cyprus on Wednesday and Thursday, according to Meteorological Officer Andreas Chrysanthou.

A red alert has been issued for these two days. In coastal areas, temperatures will range between 37 and 39 degrees, while in the mountains they will reach 37 degrees.

A slight drop in temperature is expected on August 15th, with a possibility of a yellow alert being issued, as temperatures will range between 40 and 42 degrees. A further drop is expected on Saturday, with temperatures returning to normal levels for the season.

Mr. Chrysanthou also warned of an increased risk of fires due to high temperatures and winds on Friday.

After Saturday, temperatures are expected to be normal for the season, and isolated rain is possible in the mountains after Sunday.
