Paphos Metropolis Elections to be Announced After Easter

The process for announcing elections for the new Metropolitan of Paphos is expected to begin after the Easter holidays. According to the Press Representative of the Archdiocese of Cyprus, Christakis Efstathiou, a prerequisite is the completion of the processing and approval of the revised Charter by the Holy Synod.
Mr. Efstathiou stated that the revised Charter, which is being processed by a special committee of academics and Bishops with legal training, is expected to be officially submitted to the Holy Synod during the same period.
According to Mr. Efstathiou, the start of the election process will only be possible after the delivery of the revised text and its approval by the Holy Synod.
Unofficially, interest is reportedly being shown by Bishop of Karpasia Christoforos, Bishop of Amathus Nikolaos, Bishop of Mesaoria Grigorios and Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Apostle Barnabas, Archimandrite Ioannis Ioannou.
