Memorial Event for the Turkish Invasion of Lapithos

The Municipality of Lapithos and refugee associations are organizing a memorial event for the Turkish invasion of 1974 and the ongoing occupation of Lapithos. The event will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the Ledra Palace crossing point in Nicosia.

The event will begin at 7 p.m., preceded by a memorial run starting from the Tomb of Makedonitissa at 6 p.m. and ending at the gathering place. The aim is to recall the demand for a return to the occupied homelands and to honor the memory of the fallen.

The Nicosia Police Directorate has planned increased security measures for the event, in accordance with Law 151(I)/2025 on Public Gatherings and Parades. The police urge citizens to comply with police instructions.

The police assure that they will ensure the safety of those present and the smooth running of the event.
