Lump Sum Payment to Beneficiaries Due to Airbag Recall

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announced the payment of a lump sum to beneficiaries of support measures due to airbag recalls. The payment concerns the cancellation of vehicle roadworthiness certificates due to non-replacement of airbags, in vehicles included in the February 2025 recall list.
A lump sum of €100 per week of vehicle immobilization was paid, under specific conditions. The beneficiaries belong to the following categories:
- Recipients of Guaranteed Minimum Income (GMI)
- Low-income pensioners
- Single parents
- Large families with four (4) or more children
- Owners of vehicles for the disabled
For category A, the amount was paid to the bank accounts declared to the Welfare Benefits Management Service. For owners of vehicles for the disabled, the payment will be made within the next few days. This payment covers the period up to 30.11.2025.
In addition, free tickets have been granted for use on public passenger transport to beneficiaries of the support measures.
