A dramatic rescue operation of a newborn and its mother, who gave birth prematurely at home, was described by the Head of the Ambulance Service, Riana Konstantinou, in a post.

According to Ms. Konstantinou, the woman gave birth prematurely, at 27 weeks of gestation, inside her home, which was located in a remote area. Members of the Ambulance Service immediately rushed to the scene.

Ms. Konstantinou spoke of a rescue operation that was crowned with complete success, despite the enormous challenges. The Coordination Center and the crews had to simultaneously manage two critical patients, the mother and the newborn.

"The resuscitation of a newborn even in the safe environment of a hospital is not an easy task, let alone out there," Ms. Konstantinou emphasized.
